Developers Jas Bhogal and Thomas Calus have submitted a new application to the Boston Planning and Development Agency, aiming to revert their Alexandria Hotel redevelopment project to its initial proposal: a 12-story, 150-room hotel.

Project Evolution
Originally approved in 2019, the project had shifted towards residential use due to challenges faced by Boston’s hotel sector amid the pandemic. However, with the resurgence of the hotel market, the developers are seeking to capitalize on the rebound by returning to the hotel concept.
Redevelopment Details
The revitalization plan involves preserving the historic hotel's facade while replacing the deteriorated structure behind it. Despite prior approval for residential units, financial constraints have made the residential aspect economically unfeasible.
Unchanged Aspects
The design, height, and size of the project remain unaltered, with CBT continuing as the primary architect. The redevelopment site, situated at the intersection of Washington Street and Massachusetts Avenue, features a 150-year-old building that has been vacant for decades due to fire and water damage.
