What Yamashiro Miami Is Bringing Downtown

Yamashiro Miami is expanding its hospitality offering at 159 NE 6th Street, adding a dramatic indoor dining experience to its existing rooftop destination at the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences. The concept brings the legacy of the Los Angeles restaurant to Downtown Miami while combining Japanese-inspired dining with Miami nightlife. The September 23 unveiling was designed as a full-night experience, with guests beginning on the rooftop before moving inside for sushi, cocktails, DJs and roaming performers.

What The Grand Opening Featured

The launch attracted a mix of Miami celebrities, entertainers and social figures, including Lisa Hochstein, Justin Quiles, Alex Sensation, Oniel Bebeshito, Lenier, Baby Lores and Cindy Prado. Hochstein told guests during the event that Yamashiro had become her “favorite restaurant in Miami.”

One of the night's biggest spectacles was the arrival of a 400-pound bluefin tuna, which Yamashiro's sushi chefs carved live in front of guests. The celebration then moved to 400 Vinyl Room, the adjacent listening lounge created by the Yamashiro team, extending the evening with music, cocktails and late-night entertainment.

What The Miami Location Offers

Yamashiro Miami combines Japanese culinary techniques with local Miami ingredients, offering sushi, handrolls, robata, wagyu and specialty cocktails. The restaurant currently operates on the ninth floor of the Gale, with dinner service Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday brunch and dinner. The addition of the indoor dining room gives the restaurant another format for private events, dinner service and larger social gatherings while maintaining its rooftop component and skyline views.

What 400 Vinyl Room Adds To The District

The neighboring 400 Vinyl Room gives Yamashiro a built-in late-night component. The 60-seat lounge launched earlier this year with a vinyl-focused music program, craft cocktails and a design inspired by Hollywood's Golden Age and Tokyo's listening-bar culture. The lounge operates several nights a week and provides a natural continuation for Yamashiro diners looking to extend their evening without leaving the property.
