What The Fort Worth Resort Will Include
A new luxury resort is planned for the Fort Worth Stockyards, bringing two hotels and a mix of hospitality, dining, event and retail uses to one of Texas' best-known tourism districts. Woodbine Development Corporation and Delightful Development are partnering on the approximately 3-acre project, which will include 225 hotel rooms across two independently operated hotels. The development is planned at the gateway to the Historic District, a location that has become an increasingly important destination for visitors to Fort Worth. According to Woodbine, the Stockyards now attracts more than 10 million visitors annually from local, regional, national and international markets.
What Guests Will Find At The Resort
The resort is being planned as more than a traditional hotel development. Each hotel will include a lobby bar, while the overall project will feature multiple food and beverage venues, rooftop dining and meeting space, a full-service spa, a large ballroom and an event barn. Retail space will also be incorporated across the property, creating additional activity beyond hotel guests. The combination of lodging, dining, retail and event uses is intended to make the resort a destination within the Stockyards rather than simply a place to stay.
What The Developers Say About The Project
Woodbine Development Corporation Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer T. Dupree Scovell said the company sees the project as an important opportunity to establish a presence in Fort Worth while contributing to the continued growth of the Stockyards.
“We are very proud to enter the Fort Worth market and to partner with Delightful Development on this marquee project in the historic Stockyards.”
Scovell also pointed to the property's location and the district's growing visitor base, describing the resort site as being at the gateway to the Historic District.
“The location of the resort is iconic as it sits at the gateway to the Historic District.”
For Delightful Development, the project builds on years of work in the Stockyards. Co-Founder Craig Cavileer said he sees the development as another step in the district's ongoing revival.
“Having spent the past 15 years leading the curation and renaissance of the Stockyards, I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to its ongoing revival with this project.”
What The Development Team Brings To The Stockyards
Woodbine Development Corporation is partnering with Fort Worth-based Delightful Development on the resort. Woodbine has a long history in hotel development, investment and management, while Delightful Development has been closely involved in the redevelopment of the Stockyards. Woodbine was founded by John Field Scovell, who serves as chairman. The company is led by King Scovell, managing partner and chief development officer, and T. Dupree Scovell, managing partner and chief investment officer. Delightful Development was co-founded by Craig Cavileer and Kayla Wilkie-Kinne. Cavileer's experience in the Stockyards gives the development team a direct connection to the district's ongoing transformation. The project is also backed by the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County TIF #15 through a public-private partnership.
What The Project Means For The Stockyards
The resort is expected to add significant new hotel capacity while expanding the district's mix of restaurants, event venues, retail and other visitor-oriented uses. For the Stockyards, the project represents another major investment in a district that has become one of Fort Worth's leading hospitality and entertainment destinations. Adding two independently operated hotels could also broaden the area's accommodation options while supporting additional visitor spending at restaurants, retail stores and event venues.
What The Construction Timeline Looks Like
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2027, with the resort targeting an opening in spring 2030. If the schedule remains on track, the $160 million development will bring 225 hotel rooms and a substantial collection of hospitality and commercial uses to the Fort Worth Stockyards by 2030.
