Wilmot Construction has kicked off construction of a new residential building at the southwest corner of Washtenaw Avenue and Fullerton Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. The development at 2354 North Washtenaw Avenue will rise five stories and feature 20 units. Wilmot is both the developer and general contractor.
Permits were granted in July to transform the site, which was previously a surface parking lot. Hanna Architects is the design firm behind the building. The ground floor will feature retail spaces and a parking garage with 17 spaces, while the upper floors will offer residential units equipped with decks and balconies. A rooftop deck will also cover part of the garage, offering additional outdoor space for residents.
Across the street, Wilmot Construction has another development in the pipeline at 2357 North Washtenaw Avenue. Though construction has not yet started, a demolition permit was issued in August for the bank building that previously stood there. The new project will be a five-story building with 16 residential units and a parking garage that accommodates 13 vehicles.
Both developments will offer convenient access to public transportation. The intersection of California and Fullerton Avenues, located a block away, provides CTA bus service on Routes 74 and 94. Additionally, a stop for Route 56 is just three blocks west. For rail commuters, the California Blue Line station is approximately a quarter-mile southwest, ensuring easy access to the city’s transit system.
