Wentworth Institute of Technology is gearing up for a significant expansion of its Boston campus over the next decade, as reported by the Boston Business Journal. The expansion aims to accommodate approximately 1,400 new dorm beds along with the construction of new academic buildings.

New Dormitories on Huntington Avenue

The plans entail the construction of two new dormitories on Huntington Avenue. Edwards and Rodgers Hall will be replaced by a 672-bed residence hall, while Baker Hall will make way for a 13-story, 522-bed residence hall. Additionally, an eight-story, 217-bed residence hall will be built alongside a new athletics field house.

Academic Buildings

Wentworth's expansion also includes new academic facilities. The School of Architecture and Design will receive a new academic building, and separate buildings will be erected for the engineering and management schools at the Annex complex.

Renovations and Enhancements

Renovations are slated for Wentworth Hall, which will feature a new welcome center and athletics field house. The campus will also see the addition of new green spaces and outdoor public areas, enhancing its overall appeal and functionality.

Potential Construction Timeline

Construction for these ambitious plans could commence as early as next year pending approval from the Boston Planning and Development Agency. The timeline underscores Wentworth's commitment to enhancing its facilities and accommodating its growing student body.
