The Wharf Miami Bids Farewell to Make Way for New Entertainment Complex

The Wharf Miami has announced that it will be closing its doors to make way for an exciting new expansion of the Riverside Wharf development.

Conceived by Emi Guerra of Breakwater Hospitality Group and Alex Mantecon of MV Real Estate Holdings (MVREH), The Wharf Miami was instrumental in embracing its open-air waterfront concept and played a pivotal role in establishing the Miami River District as a premier entertainment destination.

The vision: According to developer Mantecon, he had “always envisioned something locally authentic for Miami. Waterfront locations are a rare commodity, so it had to be truly exceptional. I had offers from national brands to introduce various concepts, but I was determined to keep our riverfront space distinctively Miami."

The end of an era: The Wharf Miami will bid farewell on Saturday, September 16th, with a two-day celebration titled "The Closing Parties: Bon Voyage". The festivities will commence at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 15, offering guests a journey through the venue's most iconic events from the past five years. 

What the future holds: With the permits in hand to construct a new seawall, Guerra and Mantecon are taking their first steps toward realizing their vision of creating a world-class entertainment complex.

Later this year, work will start on Riverside Wharf, a $185 million, 1.5-acre, two-tower development set to open in 2025. This world-class entertainment center, aptly described as a "city within a city," will feature a 165-key Dream Hotel, several dining and nightlife venues and a private marina. The project will be co-developed by Alex Mantecon and Emi Guerra alongside Driftwood Capital. 

The legacy: Guerra assured guests that the core elements of the beloved open-air venue will remain intact. This includes the diverse food options, areas for people- and boat-watching, and spaces for outdoor socializing, dancing, and drinking.
