  • The Top Hat, a $2.5 million Monopoly-inspired boutique hotel, is scheduled to open in October in Atlantic City's Orange Loop.
  • The three-story hotel will feature six guest rooms, a rooftop deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and 1,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
  • Developed by RMS Capital, the project received funding from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Alpha Funding Capital, and private equity investors.

What the Boutique Hotel Will Bring to Atlantic City

A new Monopoly-inspired boutique hotel is nearing completion in Atlantic City's growing Orange Loop district. Known as The Top Hat, the three-story development is rising at 215 S. Tennessee Ave., just a few blocks from the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The project transforms a previously vacant lot into a unique hospitality destination designed to attract visitors looking for an alternative to the city's traditional casino resorts. Construction is expected to wrap up in October, adding another attraction to one of Atlantic City's fastest-evolving entertainment neighborhoods.

What the Project Includes

The Top Hat will feature six boutique guest rooms with accommodations for up to 12 guests. Visitors will also have the option to reserve the entire property for private group stays, creating a more exclusive lodging experience. One of the building's standout features is its playful Monopoly-inspired design. A giant top hat will sit atop the roof, while a race car extends from the building's façade, paying tribute to two of the iconic Monopoly game pieces inspired by Atlantic City's history. The development will also include a rooftop deck offering views of both the Atlantic City skyline and the Atlantic Ocean.

What the Ground Floor Adds to the Neighborhood

Beyond the hotel itself, the project includes approximately 1,400 square feet of retail and commercial space on the ground floor. The additional storefront space is expected to increase pedestrian activity along Tennessee Avenue while supporting local businesses in the Orange Loop. Unlike many hospitality developments in Atlantic City, The Top Hat is designed as a non-gaming destination, giving travelers another lodging option within walking distance of the beach, Boardwalk, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues.

What This Means for Atlantic City's Growth

The Top Hat reflects the continued revitalization of Atlantic City's Orange Loop, where developers are investing in boutique hospitality, retail, and entertainment projects that diversify the city's tourism offerings. With a development cost of approximately $2.5 million, the project combines public and private financing, including support from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, demonstrating continued investment in small-scale projects that help activate underutilized properties and strengthen the local economy.
