Elon Musk and Tesla have received approval to move forward with plans to build a 1950s-style drive-in diner and movie theater in Hollywood. The diner will be located on W. Santa Monica Boulevard and will feature 32 Tesla Supercharger stalls, two movie screens, and a restaurant with rooftop seating.

A new location: Tesla had originally planned to build the diner in Santa Monica, but the city denied the permit. The company then moved the project to Hollywood, where it received approval from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.

When will it open: The diner is expected to open in 2024. It will be Tesla's first diner and movie theater, and it’s part of the company's efforts to expand its brand beyond electric vehicles.

The novelty: Tesla has a long history of creating novelty products, such as its own branded version of "Tesla Tequila." The diner is a continuation of this trend, and it is certain to be a popular destination for Tesla fans and movie lovers alike.

Some additional details about the diner:

  • The diner will have a 1950s theme, with classic cars parked outside and a menu of burgers, fries, and milkshakes.

  • The movie screens will show clips from classic movies, as well as new releases.

  • The restaurant will have rooftop seating, which will offer views of the Hollywood Hills.

  • The diner is expected to create 100 jobs.
