Sportime Joins Forces with DUPR for Global Pickleball Expansion Venture

Sportime Pickleball, a division of Sportime Clubs based in Kings Park, is partnering with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating), a global rating system, as part of its ongoing expansion. This collaboration will implement DUPR as the official rating system for Sportime’s events, tournaments, and level-rated play.

Enhanced Programming for Players

According to Joe Siegel, managing director of Sportime Pickleball, the partnership with DUPR will enhance player experiences by providing more diverse and competitive programs. DUPR is considered the industry standard for rating player skills and will help match players with opponents of similar levels, improving the quality of play.

DUPR’s Role in Global Pickleball

DUPR is used by major pickleball leagues and organizations worldwide, including UPA, PPA, MLP, and others. The system evaluates players’ match results to assess their skill levels on a scale from 2.000 to 8.000, offering real-time feedback on their performance.

Unified Vision for Pickleball Growth

Tito Machado, CEO of DUPR, highlighted the shared mission of growing pickleball through accessibility and competitiveness. Sportime Pickleball's influence is recognized globally, and this partnership aims to unify the sport under a common rating system, fostering more opportunities for players of all levels.

Facility Expansion and Upgrades

Sportime Pickleball is in the midst of significant facility expansions. The company operates 68 courts across Long Island, Westchester County, New York City, and Albany, and new developments are underway. A 30,000-square-foot facility in Westbury, set to open this fall, will include 13 indoor courts, a café, pro shop, and more. Additional facilities are being developed in Armonk and New Jersey.

A Legacy of Growth

Since its founding in 1994, Sportime Clubs has grown to operate over 190 courts across various locations. Recently, the company completed an $8 million renovation of the Sportime John McEnroe Tennis Academy, adding 12 pickleball courts alongside 13 tennis courts, further solidifying its position as a leader in pickleball and tennis development.
