SL Green Realty Corp. has made a significant change in their leadership. Andrew Mathias, currently serving as President, will step down from this role at the end of his ongoing employment agreement, slated for December 31, 2023.

SL Green’s point of view: Marc Holliday, Chairman and CEO of SL Green, expressed gratitude for Mathias's substantial contributions, highlighting the fact that he was a key player when taking the company from IPO to the market leader that SL Green is today. Holliday also remarked how Mathias’ point of view will live on withing the firm, given his visionary guidance and leadership across the portfolio, as well as his mentorship of numerous team members.

The current president’s thoughts: Andrew Mathias also took the time to speak his mind, stating that “it has been an extraordinary experience helping to lead this industry-leading company for nearly a quarter-century, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything we’ve achieved for our shareholders, our employees, and our city.” Mathias also expressed optimism about the future.

Mathias’ career within SL Green: Andrew Mathias climbed through various roles within SL Green over the years, ultimately reaching the position of President. His journey began as a Vice President in 1999 and saw him ascend to Chief Investment Officer, playing a pivotal role in propelling the company into Manhattan’s largest commercial office landlord and a prominent real estate investment trust in the nation.

What the future holds for Andrew Mathias: Mathias’ stint in SL Green, the leading office landlord in Manhattan, is not over yet. He will transition to a role as a member of the Company’s Board of Directors, providing valuable advisory support to the CEO.

The biggest player in the game: As of June 30, 2023, SL Green has a stake in 60 buildings, amounting to a total of 33.1 million square feet. This portfolio encompasses ownership interests in 28.8 million square feet of Manhattan buildings, and 3.4 million square feet securing debt and preferred equity investments.
