On June 12, 220 North Ada received its full building permit, allowing general contractor Clayco to advance the construction of the new apartment tower to its full 29-story height. The concrete core is currently rising, with Adjustable Concrete Construction handling this aspect of the project. Additionally, a parking ramp is being constructed, and as of the most recent update, the crews have reached the underside of the second floor across most of the site.

Development and Design

Rendering of 220 N Ada Street by SOM

220 North Ada is a collaborative project by Shapack Partners, CRG, and KMW Communities. Construction began in March for this Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)-designed rental tower, situated at the intersection of North Ada and West Fulton Market in the Fulton Market District.

Features and Amenities

Once completed, 220 North Ada will offer 308 rental units, 62 of which will be designated as affordable housing. The building will also include 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, parking for 115 cars, and bicycle storage for 58 bikes. The first residents are expected to move in during the first quarter of 2026.

Transportation and Accessibility

The location of 220 North Ada is conveniently close to public transportation. Residents will be a short three-block walk from the CTA’s Ashland station, which services the Green and Pink Line trains. Additionally, the area is serviced by the 9 and 9 Express bus routes at Lake and Ashland, as well as the 20 bus to the south and the 65 bus to the north, all within a four-block radius.
