Rolls-Royce, the iconic British luxury car brand, is set to make a grand entrance into New York's trendy Meatpacking District. The company plans to open a VIP experience center, offering a unique blend of luxury and personalization to its customers. This move marks the latest addition to the growing list of high-end automotive brands making their presence felt in this upscale neighborhood.
The VIP experience center will occupy approximately 6,000 square feet of office and terrace space at the top of a new development located at 50 Ninth Avenue. The entire eighth floor, boasting 4,783 square feet of interior space wrapped by a south- and west-facing terrace, will be dedicated to Rolls-Royce. The building’s offices are reportedly asking for a rent of $150 to $215 per square foot.
While most U.S. customers currently use online tools to configure their Rolls-Royce cars, this new center will offer a more hands-on approach. Customers will have the opportunity to personalize their vehicles without the need to travel to the company's headquarters in Goodwood, England. The exact opening date of the new VIP center is yet to be announced.
Despite this being a corporate-leased office, Rolls-Royce already has a significant presence in New York City. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Manhattan, the car company’s privately owned dealer, operates a showroom and service center along with 10 other brands at 270 11th Avenue.
Rolls-Royce, founded in 1904, is renowned for its hood ornament, the "Spirit of Ecstasy" - a woman leaning forward with the long sleeves of her dress flying in the wind. Now, the Spirit of Ecstasy is set to grace the Meatpacking District, joining a host of upscale and electric auto brands that have made the neighborhood their home. These include Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Genesis, and soon, Hyundai. Other brands like Lexus and Bentley have also hosted short-term pop-up events in the area.
Rolls-Royce's move to open a VIP experience center in the Meatpacking District underscores the neighborhood's growing appeal to luxury and electric auto brands. This development is not only a win for Rolls-Royce and its customers but also a significant boost to the real estate profile of the Meatpacking District.
