The office conversion project at The Shops & Restaurants in Manhattan's Hudson Yards district is gaining momentum. Developed by Related Companies and designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the project involves transforming a section of the former Nieman Marcus department store into 445,000 square feet of office space for Wells Fargo. This move is part of Wells Fargo's plan to consolidate its New York workforce and foster better collaboration among its employees.

Transformation Details and Timeline

Recent updates show progress in dismantling the existing façade, paving the way for the installation of a new glass curtain wall. The redesigned façade will prominently feature the Wells Fargo logo and offer a modern aesthetic with dark metal louvers. The entrance will be strategically located for accessibility and visibility.

Enhanced Workspace and Amenities

The revamped office space will prioritize natural light and provide access to landscaped terraces overlooking the vibrant Hudson Yards public plaza and the iconic Vessel sculpture. Amenities planned include a food hall with a rotating local restaurant program and an all-day coffee bar, creating a dynamic and inviting work environment.

Project Partners and Collaboration

The project involves collaboration between renowned architectural firms and developers, including Kohn Pedersen Fox, Related Companies, Elkus Manfredi Architects, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. This collaboration aims to deliver a sophisticated and functional workspace that meets modern business needs.

Anticipated Completion and Relocation

Wells Fargo's new office space is expected to be completed in approximately three years, aligning with the company's timeline to relocate all 2,300 employees from its current offices by late 2026. The project signifies a strategic move for Wells Fargo and contributes to the ongoing revitalization of the Hudson Yards district as a vibrant business hub.
