Property Resources Corporation (“PRC”) today announces that The Hartby – the restoration, renovation and residential conversion of the original St. John’s College building, located in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood – has launched the lottery program for the building’s rent-stabilized apartment component. The Hartby, designed by the renowned international architecture firm Woods Bagot, with interiors by Alchemy Studio, a lifestyle-driven interior design firm, will officially welcome new residents this fall, following the launch of market-rate units.

The Hartby’s collection of rent-stabilized apartments available will make up 30% of the building’s occupancy and comprise 62 residences ranging in size from studios to two-bedroom units priced from $2,495 for a studio to $2,795 for a one-bedroom, and $3,939 for a two-bedroom. These rent-stabilized apartments are available to households of one to five that meet annual eligible income requirements of $85,543 to $218,010.

“After several years of planning and construction, we are proud to launch the lottery for the rent-stabilized component of The Hartby,” said Matthew Linde, Principal and CEO of PRC. “Now more than ever, we are committed to providing accessible housing for all, and are thrilled to bring The Hartby’s affordable luxury residences to Brooklyn’s vibrant Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The Hartby's unique collection of apartments will provide residents the rare opportunity to live in a newly restored historical building, complete with contemporary interiors that has not compromised any of the original charm and old-world character that Bedford-Stuyvesant is known for.”

Situated on the corner of Willoughby Avenue and Lewis Avenue, The Hartby was originally built as part of St. John’s College in 1870 by renowned architect Patrick Keely. Steeped in the architectural bones of the historical building, the now-converted residential building was thoughtfully imagined and realized to retain its Romanesque Revival design, boasting high arched windows and soaring ceilings, leading to charming and unique residential layouts that bring the building’s past into the present. Each apartment is complete with airy interiors, high-end finishes and clean lines paired with captivating original details.

Complementing this distinct offering, The Hartby will feature an impressive collection of amenities, including a fully equipped fitness center, private party room, business center and library, indoor-outdoor lounge, activated roof deck with barbecue stations, pet spa and an idyllic landscaped building interior courtyard. Residents of The Hartby will be welcomed by a double-height lobby with a part-time doorman, and also have access to covered on-site parking as well as bike storage, package lockers, a common laundry room and electric car charging stations.

The Hartby will offer 205 residences total, including the rent-stabilized apartments. Located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, The Hartby is surrounded by classic brownstone buildings the neighborhood has historically been known for as well as quaint tree-lined streets. With so many cafes, restaurants and parks just moments away, The Hartby will place residents in the heart of Bed-Stuy’s rich and dynamic culture. The Hartby will also be conveniently located near several public transit options including the J, M and Z MTA Subway lines.
