New signage at the construction site of 85 Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, has offered the first glimpse of the envisioned structure for this high-rise mixed-use tower.
What to expect: Developed by RXR Realty and designed by architects from Perkins Eastman, this imposing tower will feature 29 stories, with a footprint of nearly 289,000 square feet. Its purpose is to accommodate 275 rental apartments, a 46,000-square-foot community facility and a parking area capable of sheltering up to 198 vehicles.
The design: The renderings of the building show an exterior adorned with reflective glass, embellished by a series of light-gray metallic bands that artfully segment the tower into discernible sections. These bands correspond to four distinct setbacks, poised to potentially provide residents with the luxury of private terraces and communal outdoor spaces.
The mystery that remains: As the project unfolds, certain details have not been disclosed. The assortment of amenity spaces, the potential inclusion of affordable housing units, and the activation strategies for the auxiliary retail and community facilities have yet to be officially confirmed.
The proposed date for the project’s completion is set at December 2025, as a construction poster on site estates.
