Preparations for the site demolition to make room for a mixed-use hotel and condominium building at 538-542 West 29th Street in West Chelsea, Manhattan, are currently underway. This project, a collaboration between Jeffrey Cole Architects and AA Studio, is being developed by PPHE Hotel Group and Largo Investments. The property was acquired for $42 million and is set to feature 98 guest rooms and 55 residences within its 74,000-square-foot structure. The owner is listed as W29 Owner LLC, with Northeast Specialist Group LLC serving as the contractor. The site is situated between Ninth and Tenth Avenues.

Current Progress and Structure Details
Recent photographs reveal the installation of green sidewalk fencing surrounding the three buildings comprising the 9,875-square-foot assemblage. These structures consist of two three-story buildings and a one-story garage. While no new renderings have been released, an earlier image depicts a ten-story building characterized by tall rectangular windows with dark frames. Stepped setbacks are visible on levels eight through ten, with hanging vegetation covering the rear of the eastern wall and the top of the entrance canopy.

The development's proximity to the local 7 train at Hudson Yards, situated northeast in Bella Abzug Park, provides convenient access to public transportation for future residents and guests.
Anticipated Timeline
Demolition activities at 538-542 West 29th Street are expected to conclude by March 31, 2024, according to on-site information. However, a construction timeline has not yet been disclosed, leaving the schedule for subsequent phases of the project undetermined.
