Porter Land LLC has received the green light for the revitalization of the former Raytheon site in St. Petersburg, Florida. The project is set to encompass 1,056 apartments on a 29-acre plot.
Helping solve the housing crisis: Situated southwest of Tyrone Square Mall, the project will boast 318 units categorized as affordable housing. Among these, 159 apartments will be specifically reserved for individuals earning 80 percent or less of the area median income (AMI), while another 159 will cater to residents earning 120 percent or less of the AMI.
Reportedly, a single-person household earning 120 percent of the AMI would have an income of approximately $73,000 per year. Despite its classification as affordable housing, the development will not be seeking benefits under the recently passed Live Local Act. Reports suggest that the complex will be developed in three distinct phases.
How the project will be developed: The initial and second phases will feature a total of six buildings, while the third and final phase will introduce five buildings housing 369 units. This totals to 11 buildings, none of which will exceed four stories in height. On-site communal amenities will include a children’s playground, a fitness center, three community pools, and a community clubhouse.
Location, location, location: Moreover, pedestrian connections to the nearby Pinellas Trail will enhance accessibility and connectivity. This marks Porter Land’s third endeavor to redevelop this particular parcel. St. Pete Rising has indicated that residents might be able to move in by 2024, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.
The address for this expansive 11-building community is 1501 72nd St. N., St. Petersburg, Florida, 33710, situated in Pinellas County.
