Demolition work at 289 Hudson Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan, has been completed. This site will soon be home to a new six-story residential building, designed by SRA Architecture + Engineering and developed by Ponte Equities under the name BNC289 LLC.
Overview of the New Development
The planned structure will stand 73 feet tall, covering 14,829 square feet and featuring 15 rental units. These units will average 688 square feet each. Additionally, the building will include 1,710 square feet of commercial space and a cellar level. The site is prominently located at the corner of Hudson and Spring Streets, across from Disney's new headquarters at Four Hudson Square.
Current Site Conditions
Recent images reveal that the corner lot has been fully cleared of the previous low-rise building and partially excavated. The site is currently enclosed by wooden fencing, and no excavation or construction machinery has arrived yet. Once completed, the new building will surpass the height of neighboring structures to the south. The C and E subway lines are the closest public transit options, located at the Spring Street station on Sixth Avenue, near the SoHo border.
Future Construction Plans
As of now, no construction timeline or final architectural renderings for the project at 289 Hudson Street have been released to the public.
