New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced a plan to create up to 4,000 new apartments in Central Brooklyn. The plan, known as the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, would also create more than 1,500 income-restricted homes.

The goal: The plan would rezone a 13-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue from industrial to mixed-use, allowing for the construction of dense residential buildings up to 18 stories tall. The plan also includes investments in public infrastructure, such as upgrades to St. Andrew's Playground.
