Netflix Unveils First Ever Permanent Amusement Venue at King of Prussia Mall

Netflix is set to establish one of its initial permanent amusement destinations at the King of Prussia Mall. The venue, named Netflix House, will occupy a previously occupied two-story area by Lord & Taylor. It will feature themed amusement spaces, a 250-seat theater, dining facilities, and a marketplace.

Development Timeline and Approval Process

The Netflix House is scheduled to open by late 2025, following an interior renovation of the over 120,000-square-foot former department store at 180 N. Gulph Road in King of Prussia. The project has secured approval from the Upper Merion Township Planning Commission and is awaiting review by its Board of Supervisors.

Netflix's Previous Ventures

Netflix has experimented with temporary immersive pop-up sites, such as Netflix at The Grove in Los Angeles during the 2022 holiday season. It has also introduced location-based entertainment experiences inspired by popular shows like Squid Game and Stranger Things, along with a temporary dining establishment named Netflix Bites in 2023.

Permanent Location Concept

The Netflix House represents one of the company's inaugural permanent ventures of this nature nationwide. Netflix aims to establish a presence in communities, city centers, and prominent malls like the King of Prussia Mall, encouraging repeat visits from patrons.

Venue Features and Offerings

The Philadelphia location of Netflix House will comprise two significant event spaces and two smaller rooms. Themed events in the larger rooms will rotate every four to eight months, accommodating between 120 to 200 guests per hour. The theater will screen popular shows and new content.

Employment Opportunities and Expected Foot Traffic

Netflix anticipates employing a workforce of 100 to 150 individuals, including temporary, seasonal, and full-time staff. The venue expects around 3,300 guests on peak days.

Former Tenant

The space previously occupied by Lord & Taylor closed in 2021 following the chain's Chapter 11 bankruptcy declaration. Various tenants, including flex office and events company Convene, have considered leasing the area since then.
