Michael Jordan’s highly personalized Highland Park estate has been on the market for over 12 years, without much success. The property, originally listed for $29 million in 2012, has seen its price drop to $14.9 million over the years. Despite its massive appeal, the estate remains unsold.

A Home with Jordan’s Signature Touches

The Chicago area mansion is filled with Jordan’s personal imprints, including his name on the basketball court and his jersey number on the gates. The property features nine bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms, a gym, a regulation-sized basketball court, a theater, a trophy room, and more. The house was custom-built in 1995, and Jordan spent around $50 million constructing it.

Challenges in Selling the Mansion

Although the home is filled with unique features, its non-waterfront location has posed a challenge in finding a buyer. Many buyers seeking properties at this price point prefer lakefront homes in the Chicago area. Despite this, the agent selling the house views Jordan’s personal touches as a selling point rather than a hindrance.

High Maintenance Costs for Jordan

Jordan has no plans to reduce the price further, even though maintaining the property has been expensive. Since listing it, he has spent over $1 million on property taxes and continues to pay for a housekeeper, security, and a property manager. However, with a net worth of $3.2 billion, these expenses are manageable for the NBA legend.

Jordan’s Current Residence

Jordan’s primary residence is in the Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida, a luxurious golf community. He lives there with his wife, Yvette Prieto, in a 26,000-square-foot mansion with a guest house, gym, pool, and basketball court. In April, Jordan also purchased another mansion in the same area for $16.5 million.

Other Chicagoland Mansions Facing Losses

Jordan’s home isn’t the only luxury property struggling in the Chicago market. Recently, a mansion in Lincoln Park that cost $65 million to build sold for just $15.3 million, highlighting the difficulties in selling high-end estates in the area.
