Lionel Messi, Argentine soccer heavyweight, has purchased a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 10,500-square-foot, eight-bedroom estate is located in the Bay Colony neighborhood, a gated community known for its luxury homes.
Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, bought the property from John and Stacy Dickerson for $10.8 million. The Dickersons had purchased the home in May 2022 for $9 million, meaning they sold it for a 20% profit in just 16 months.
The new home: The mansion has 0.4 acres of land and 170 feet of water frontage. It features two docks, a waterfront pool, a gym/spa room, and an Italian kitchen. The house was built in 1988 and expanded in 2000.
The whereabouts: Messi's new home is about 5 miles from Drive Pink Stadium and Inter Miami's adjacent training facility in Fort Lauderdale. The team expects to eventually move to Miami, where its owners plan Miami Freedom Park, a massive mixed-use development that will include a soccer stadium.
The star’s deals: Messi is no stranger to the South Florida real estate market. He previously owned three luxury condos in Sunny Isles Beach, including a unit at Porsche Design Tower. Messi's deal with Inter Miami is valued between $50 million and $60 million, plus equity in the team and revenue sharing agreements with Adidas, Apple, and other companies.
Messi’s new life: The purchase of this mansion is a sign that Messi is settling into his new life in Fort Lauderdale. He is clearly committed to the city and the Inter Miami team, and he is excited to start this new chapter in his career. Furthermore, Messi's longtime teammate, Sergio Busquets, who also joined Inter Miami this summer, recently purchased a waterfront home in Sea Ranch Lakes, not far from Messi's new mansion.
