Link & National Core's New Affordable Housing Complex in San Pedro Sees Over 4,300 Applications

A collaborative effort of dedicated developers has brought a new affordable housing complex to life at 456 West 9th Street in Downtown San Pedro. This six-story building not only offers affordable housing spaces but also incorporates commercial facilities and essential onsite residential services.

Developers Linc Housing and National CORE have spearheaded this project, with architectural guidance from RRM Design Group. The project recently celebrated its grand opening in late October, proudly bearing the name of its location: 456 West 9th Street. Comprising 91 residential units designated as affordable housing, this complex also provides commercial spaces on the ground floor. These residences come in various configurations, including one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom layouts, and are reserved for households with incomes ranging from 30 to 80 percent of the area's median income level. The ground floor commercial space encompasses 4,900 square feet, making it a versatile addition to the neighborhood.

Modern Design and Community Amenities

A look at the artist's renderings reveals a modern podium-style building with a range of onsite amenities. These include a welcoming community room, a fully-equipped gym, engaging play areas, a serene picnic terrace, and a community lawn that fosters a sense of togetherness. As a testament to the demand for affordable housing, the project has already received more than 4,300 pre-applications, reflecting the pressing need for such initiatives in the area.

Supporting Affordable Housing

The project received vital funding from multiple sources, including HOME funds administered by the Los Angeles Housing Department, tax credit financing arranged through Raymond James, a construction loan from Bank of America, and a permanent loan by the California Community Reinvestment Corporation. It's worth noting that the City of Los Angeles contributed by providing the land on which this project now stands, which was previously a city parking lot.
