Lidl Joins Totowa Commons Power Center In New Jersey

A European discount grocery chain, Lidl, is set to open a new store at the Totowa Commons power center in New Jersey, alongside well-known retailers like The Home Depot and Staples. The store will cover 27,270 square feet and will feature Lidl's signature low-cost private label products. Lidl currently operates over 170 stores across nine East Coast states in the U.S.

Leigh Lyons, the Senior Vice President of Leasing for Urban Edge, the investment trust managing Totowa Commons, expresses enthusiasm about Lidl's arrival, stating that it brings a new shopping option to the center. This will be Lidl's second location in Passaic County, and it's anticipated to drive increased foot traffic to Totowa Commons.

Lidl's Growth and Expansion

Recent data from Northmarq highlights Lidl as one of the fastest-growing grocers in the U.S., trailing only behind Kroger and Aldi. The company has been expanding rapidly, with its 174th location recently opened at Queens Place Mall in New York City. Originating from Germany, Lidl operates over 12,000 stores across 32 countries, establishing its U.S. headquarters in Virginia in 2015 and opening its first U.S. store two years later.
