Traded Editorial
Kendrick Lamar, the acclaimed hip-hop artist, is set to acquire a home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles for over $40 million. Sources familiar with the transaction suggest this could be one of the most expensive real estate deals in Los Angeles this year, despite a recent slowdown in high-end sales due to a new property tax on significant transactions.
Background of the Property and Seller
The current owners, Viet Dinh and his wife, Jennifer Ashworth Dinh, purchased the property for $19.5 million in 2019. Dinh, a former chief legal and policy officer at Fox Corp., was notably involved in the legal strategy leading to the substantial settlement with Dominion Voting Systems. Both the Dinhs and Lamar have refrained from commenting on the transaction.
Property Details and History
The estate, not officially listed on the market at the time of the sale, was previously described in 2019 as a nearly 16,000-square-foot residence situated on just under an acre of land. It features an eight-bedroom main house, a wine cellar, a gym, a pool, and a guesthouse. It remains unclear if the Dinhs have made any modifications to the property since their purchase.
Lamar's Recent Public Attention
Kendrick Lamar, who has earned a Pulitzer Prize and is known for hits such as "Humble" and "Alright," has also been in the news recently due to his ongoing feud with fellow rapper Drake, with both artists releasing diss tracks.
Real Estate Agents Involved
The real estate transaction involved several agents: Cindy Ambuehl and Morgan Trent from Christie’s International Real Estate, along with Mark Norton from Palm Realty Boutique.
