Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, currently one of the wealthiest individuals globally, is enhancing his residence in Beverly Hills, California, despite plans to relocate to Florida.
Luxurious Additions to Megamansion
Bezos, worth nearly $194 billion, has been refining his Beverly Hills property, originally purchased from David Geffen for $165 million in 2020. The enhancements include lavish features such as basketball and tennis courts, along with aesthetically pleasing swimming pools inspired by tropical themes.
Ongoing Construction
Construction on the megamansion has been ongoing for approximately four years. In early 2023, work momentarily halted due to a denied application for a new "game court fence." However, construction resumed the following month. Aerial views reveal pristine tennis courts and creatively designed swimming pools, although the property remains a work in progress.
Expansive Compound
Situated on a 10-acre plot, the compound spans nearly 30,000 square feet and comprises a three-story main house, gym, guest house, pergola, and security guard house.
Contrast with Humble Beginnings
Bezos's rise from modest beginnings in Washington, where he rented a residence for $890 per month in the 1990s, starkly contrasts with his current lifestyle. The property where he launched Amazon from a garage recently entered a contract for sale, listing at $2.29 million. Bezos's property portfolio is valued at around $570 million.
Transition to Florida
While his California residence undergoes upgrades, Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez are transitioning to Florida. This move aligns with his announcement last autumn to relocate to be closer to family. Additionally, his space exploration company, Blue Origin, is increasingly centered in Cape Canaveral. Bezos's Florida holdings include homes worth approximately $147 million, with ongoing efforts to acquire more property in the state.
Diverse Property Portfolio
Bezos's real estate holdings extend across the United States, from Hawaii to New York City, showcasing his diverse property portfolio.
