Jeff Bezos, the billionaire Amazon founder, is extending his property holdings in the exclusive Miami area as part of his relocation from Seattle. His latest acquisition involves a $90 million purchase of a third residence on Indian Creek island, as reported by Bloomberg. This island, nicknamed "Billionaire Bunker," sits on Biscayne Bay and is home to fewer than 100 residents, including notable figures like Ivanka Trump and Tom Brady. Accessible only via a gated bridge, Indian Creek boasts its own mayor and police force, adding to its exclusivity.

Expanding His Presence on Indian Creek

Bezos intends to reside in the newly acquired six-bedroom home while he proceeds to demolish two other properties he owns on the island. His initial investment in Indian Creek began with a $68 million waterfront mansion in August, followed by the purchase of a seven-bedroom mansion for $79 million a few months later.

Reasons for the Move

In November, Bezos announced his decision to relocate to Miami, citing the desire to be closer to his parents and the operations of his aerospace company, Blue Origin, at Cape Canaveral. The favorable tax environment of Florida, notably its absence of a capital-gains tax, may have influenced his decision as well.

Bezos' Expansive Real Estate Holdings

According to Business Insider, Bezos owned a total of eight properties in Seattle, collectively valued at up to $190 million based on Zillow estimates. Ranked as the world's second-richest person by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos owns an extensive real estate portfolio that includes properties such as two adjacent mansions in Beverly Hills, a ranch in Texas, and a $500 million superyacht named Koru.

Pattern of Property Acquisition

Bezos has a history of purchasing multiple adjacent properties, a practice he also employed at his former residence in the Hunts Point enclave near Seattle. These additional properties often serve various purposes, including accommodation for security personnel and staff.
