Excavation is underway at 525 Sixth Avenue, where a 13-story residential building is being constructed in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The development, led by Izaki Group under 525 6th Ave LLC, will stand at 145 feet tall and cover 123,000 square feet. It is set to feature 71 condominium units along with ground-floor commercial space. Hunter Roberts Construction Group is managing the project, situated at 100-106 West 14th Street, adjacent to the border of Chelsea.
Progress and Clearing of the Site
Since the last update in early September, demolition has been completed. Previously, two low-rise buildings existed on the site along West 14th Street. The area has now been cleared of debris, and excavation work has commenced. Teams are currently preparing the ground for reinforced concrete foundations.
Design Features and Project Details
While finalized renderings have not been released, a massing diagram displayed on the construction board offers insights into the building's design. An illustration released before showcases the building's layout along West 14th Street, featuring shallow setbacks starting from the ninth floor up to the multifaceted mechanical bulkhead. Additional setbacks, including a larger one on the seventh story, are situated at the rear of the building. The design incorporates curved corners and carved cutouts across the northern and eastern elevations, potentially providing private terraces on the setbacks. Notably, the development is conveniently located near the 14th Street subway station, offering access to the F, L, and M trains.
Project Timeline
The anticipated completion date for 525 Sixth Avenue is projected for spring 2026, as indicated on-site signage.
