The Property: Prime Corner Retail in Landmark SoHo

Located at the corner of Lafayette and Bleecker, 337 Lafayette Street is a historically protected property in one of NYC’s most valuable retail corridors. SoHo, long considered the epicenter of fashion and streetwear retail, has seen a wave of revitalized flagship concepts—and Kith’s relaunch reasserts the value of high-touch, experience-first real estate in the post-pandemic era.

The building spans three full levels, each purpose-built with a unique programming mix:

  • Ground Floor: Dedicated to Kith-branded apparel and collaboration drops.

  • Second Floor: Houses a curated multibrand retail mix.

  • Third Floor: Features a dramatically expanded footwear department.

What makes this more than just a retail redesign is the long-term control and commitment to the space. For Ronnie Fieg, Kith’s founder, the building represents both brand history and a future-proof retail strategy. “The second I found out it became available, it became the only priority,” he noted—illustrating how real estate vision and brand growth were strategically intertwined.

Design-Driven Renovation: 18 Months of Planning, 5 Months to Execute

The property underwent a full gut renovation, with design led by Kith’s in-house team. Key architectural enhancements include:

  • Structural reprogramming: Fitting rooms moved to former back-office space to maximize floor selling capacity.

  • Statement circulation: A newly constructed central staircase beneath a barrel-vaulted ceiling connects the levels, creating a natural flow through the space.

  • Materials palette: Ground floor features Nero Marquina marble inlaid with brass, dark walnut millwork, and white oak transitions. Upper floors shift toward lighter tones, herringbone floors, and green marble finishes.

  • Retail zoning: Each floor is uniquely designed to serve a product category—apparel, multibrand, footwear—while enhancing spatial clarity.

Preserving Heritage, Creating Legacy

As part of SoHo’s landmark district, the renovation was also a preservation-minded project, integrating historical architectural details with contemporary finishes. Kith’s redesign didn’t just upgrade the retail interior—it repositioned the real estate asset itself as a high-value, flagship-grade destination property that blends fashion, culture, and commerce.

Experiential Anchors: Kith Treats and VIP Elements

  • Kith Treats, the cult-favorite cereal-and-soft-serve concept, has been reintroduced as a street-level window concept, maximizing foot traffic and visibility.

  • The second floor features a private VIP salon, catering to Kith’s growing base of global shoppers and high-net-worth clientele.

  • Custom elements such as the Kith & Kin Crest, embedded into walls, lighting, and fixtures, help brand the real estate as a physical extension of the company’s identity.

Real Estate as Brand Strategy

Fieg’s reflection on the space says it all:

“This building will now represent the future of our brand experience for years to come.”

Retail flagships today are not just storefronts—they are strategic assets. By reimagining 337 Lafayette Street, Kith is making a long-term bet on SoHo as the epicenter of global fashion storytelling and retail engagement. It also reflects a broader trend: retail tenants investing in the physical real estate they occupy, not just through lease agreements, but through capital improvements and experiential layering.

Traded Takeaway:

Kith’s relaunch is a blueprint for the modern flagship: real estate, design, and brand experience in alignment. As New York retail rebounds, high-value corners like Lafayette and Bleecker remain rare—and when activated correctly, unforgettable.
