  • 4,600 SF luxury unit transformed into immersive cultural installation
  • Trend grows of luxury condos activating units for brand and community engagement

What the exhibition means for luxury residential positioning

Indego Africa has partnered with JVP Development to launch Between Us, an immersive exhibition inside Sutton Tower’s Penthouse 77 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The installation transforms a 4,600-square-foot luxury residence into a curated cultural experience featuring portraits, handcrafted works, and multimedia storytelling. The exhibit highlights women artisans from Rwanda, blending global craftsmanship with ultra-luxury real estate.

“At Sutton Tower, we think about luxury living as more than just the physical space — it’s about the experience and the broader impact a building can have," said Joshua D'Ambrosio, Sales and Marketing Manager for JVP Development. "Partnering with Indego Africa gave us an opportunity to open up one of our most special residences in a way that brings meaningful storytelling and global craftsmanship into the building. It’s a reflection of how residential development can engage with culture and community, while offering something truly distinct to both residents and the public.”

For developers, this signals a shift where high-end residential assets double as experiential platforms.

What this strategy means for condo marketing

Using marquee units like penthouses as exhibition spaces reflects a broader strategy in luxury development. Rather than leaving units staged or vacant, developers are activating them to create buzz, drive traffic, and differentiate their properties in competitive markets like New York. This approach enhances brand identity while offering prospective buyers a more emotional connection to the space.

What the partnership model means for future developments

The collaboration between Indego Africa, JVP Development, and Magnum Foundation shows how developers are increasingly partnering with cultural and nonprofit organizations.

“Partnering with JVP Development to present this exhibition at Sutton Tower has been an incredible opportunity to elevate the voices and work of the women artisans we support," said Sara Wohlers, Director of Marketing & Communications for Indego Africa. "By bringing their stories into a space like this, we’re able to reach new audiences and create a powerful dialogue between craftsmanship, community and contemporary design.”

These partnerships allow buildings to extend beyond traditional real estate functions and engage with global narratives, art, and social impact. It also opens the door for developers to position assets as community-oriented rather than purely transactional.

What this means for demand in luxury real estate

Luxury buyers are placing greater emphasis on experience, identity, and meaning in addition to location and design. By integrating cultural programming into residential spaces, developers can appeal to buyers seeking more than just high-end finishes. This aligns with a broader trend toward lifestyle-driven real estate, where storytelling and experience play a key role in driving demand.

What this means for developers and investors

The Sutton Tower exhibition highlights how nontraditional activation strategies can enhance asset value and visibility. For developers, this creates a powerful marketing tool that differentiates inventory without major capital investment. For investors, it reinforces how experiential branding can support pricing power in the luxury segment. As competition intensifies, expect more high-end developments to leverage cultural programming as part of their leasing and sales strategy.
