Hilton has acquired a majority controlling interest in Sydell Group to expand the NoMad Hotels brand worldwide, marking its entry into the luxury lifestyle hotel market.
Innovative Brands by Sydell
Under the leadership of founder Andrew Zobler, Sydell Group has created seven lifestyle brands, including NoMad, The Line, Freehand, and The Ned. Sydell will handle design, branding, and management of the NoMad brand, while Hilton will focus on development. NoMad properties will remain independently owned.
Global Expansion Goals
The partnership aims to develop around 100 NoMad properties globally, with roughly 10 projects already in advanced discussions. Integration into Hilton's commercial platforms, like Hilton Honors, intends to offer unique luxury experiences in prime locations.
Strategic Significance for Hilton
Chris Silcock, Hilton's president of global brands and commercial services, sees the addition of NoMad as a key move in driving growth in the luxury lifestyle segment. This, combined with other recent initiatives such as partnerships with Small Luxury Hotels of the World and the planned acquisition of the Graduate Hotels brand, positions Hilton as a leader in innovative luxury and lifestyle offerings.
Expansion Plans and Exceptions
The flagship NoMad property in London will soon be available for booking to Hilton guests, with further expansion planned. However, NoMad Las Vegas is excluded from the transaction and will undergo rebranding soon.
Optimism and Vision
Andrew Zobler, Sydell's founder and CEO, expresses excitement about the partnership with Hilton and foresees the NoMad brand expanding into sought-after neighborhoods globally. Zobler emphasizes the brand's commitment to accessible luxury, exceptional design, and award-winning food and beverage offerings.
Financial Details
The specific financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed.
