Hackensack Meridian Health Kicks Off Construction of 60K SF Health & Wellness Center in New Jersey

Hackensack Meridian Health has initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art health and wellness center in Woodbridge, N.J. The forthcoming facility, spanning 60,000 square feet, will be a part of a mixed-use development near Metropark Station, led by Russo Development. This significant investment of $200 million by Hackensack Meridian Health aims to bring over 1,000 job opportunities to the area and signifies a relocation of the company's offices from Edison, N.J. The completion target for this seven-story building, designed to meet LEED certification standards, is set for 2025.

Comprehensive Healthcare Services in a Modern Setting

Upon its completion, the health and wellness center will offer a wide array of healthcare services including primary care, specialized medical services, advanced imaging, rehabilitation facilities, a sports and spine center, urgent care, occupational health services, and a retail pharmacy. The project is supported by a $110 million tax credit grant, qualifying under the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s ASPIRE program. Following the opening of the health and wellness center, the development will proceed with the construction of 230 residential units and a retail space.

Strategic Location and Accessible Healthcare

Situated near Metropark Station, the facility will not only cater to commuters but also provide access to healthcare services for individuals along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. Positioned conveniently near interstate 95 and 287, and just 32 miles from New York City, it ensures accessibility for a broad demographic. Additionally, the Woodbridge area is already home to several medical providers, including Solaris Health System, Woodbridge Medical Group, and the Center for Remote Medical Management.

Expanding Healthcare Infrastructure in New Jersey

The development of the health and wellness center is part of a broader trend in New Jersey's healthcare infrastructure expansion. Data from CommercialEdge indicates the existence of 16 other medical office building projects in various stages of development across the state, adding up to 1.8 million square feet of new space. Among these projects is the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, N.J., a significant endeavor spanning 519,500 square feet and slated for completion in 2025.
