Dolly Parton’s Former Solvang Home Listed for $2 Million

Dolly Parton's Old Hideaway Is Now a $665K-a-Door Rental

A 1920s farmhouse Dolly Parton once used to disappear from her own fame is back on the market, this time pitched as an income property. The listing at 561 Alisal Road in Solvang asks $1,995,000 for what has grown into a three-unit, roughly 2,500-square-foot property on a 0.26-acre corner lot at Alisal Road and Maple Avenue, a short walk from downtown. That's close to $665,000 per unit and about $798 a square foot for a property that traded for about $1.3 million just four years ago.

Parton bought the place in 2004 through Dolly Parton Enterprises and held it for a decade as a private weekend escape from Nashville and the road. She sold in 2014 to a local family. The current owner, broker Cris Lapp of Black Oak Homes & Mortgages, picked it up in 2022 for around $1.3 million and split it into three tenant-occupied units: the original three-bedroom, two-bath farmhouse out front, complete with its windmill, a three-bedroom, two-bath unit built above the rear, and a one-bedroom unit below it. Lapp says the trio now brings in roughly $116,000 in gross annual rent. Lapp is listing the property herself, alongside co-owner and agent Daniel Ferguson.

The Wig Room Stayed

Lapp kept the parts of the house that made it Parton's in the first place. The upper rear unit still holds what the listing calls the original wig room, plus a stained-glass window reading "Dolly" above a butterfly. Elsewhere on the property are the privacy measures Parton reportedly had built in: gold-tinted reflective film on the windows so passersby couldn't see in, a latticework corridor to the back door, and a primary bedroom door that once carried seven locks. A birdhouse chapel replica still sits along the driveway.

None of that shows up in a typical Solvang listing. The town, nicknamed the "Danish capital of America" for its half-timbered storefronts and windmills, draws its real estate buyers on charm and wine-country proximity in the Santa Ynez Valley, not celebrity provenance. Lapp has said she's hoping to find a buyer who wants both.

First Listed in Spring, Refreshed in August

News coverage first surfaced the listing in April 2026, and current MLS records show it relisted August 4, 2026, still asking $1,995,000. For now, the pitch is less "own a piece of Dollywood" and more straightforward multifamily math: three doors, one address, and a rent roll that outsiders wouldn't guess sits behind a farmhouse facade.
