Developer George Tsilogiannis' Fogarty Finger-designed 92-Unit Mixed-Use Building in Astoria Nears Completion

The construction of a six-story mixed-use residential building at 31-90 29th Street in Astoria, Queens, is approaching completion. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architects, the development is owned by George Tsilogiannis of BQ 29, LLC. The building stands at 70 feet tall and will feature 87,439 square feet of space, including 74,011 square feet allocated to 92 rental units, averaging 804 square feet each. Additionally, 13,428 square feet are reserved for commercial use, and the development includes a cellar level and 46 enclosed parking spaces. The property is strategically located on a wide rectangular plot bordered by 29th Street, Crescent Street, and Broadway.

Architectural Features and Design

The building’s structure is made of reinforced concrete, with a facade of light-colored brick and white terra-cotta panels positioned between large, floor-to-ceiling windows framed in gray mullions. The design also incorporates pocketed terraces on the southern corner and sixth floor, adding to its modern aesthetic. The rooftop is outlined with metal railings, and some of the sixth-floor exterior walls are intentionally slanted to mirror the sloped design of the ground-floor retail frontage. Recent photographs show the ground level just before the removal of wooden sidewalk fencing and the renovation of the sidewalks. The main rendering showcases the broad southern elevation facing Broadway, with a single mechanical bulkhead rising above the roof parapet on the eastern side of the building.

Accessibility and Transportation

Residents of 31-90 29th Street will have convenient access to public transportation, with the nearest subway station located just two blocks to the east. The Broadway stop, served by the N and W trains, provides easy connections to other parts of Queens and Manhattan.
