Derek Jeter's iconic lake house, known locally as "the castle," on Greenwood Lake near the New York-New Jersey border, is now listed for $6.3 million. This is a significant drop from its previous listing price of nearly $15 million.

Historical Background
The property, built in 1903, has been associated with Jeter's family for over 70 years. Originally constructed by New York City doctor Rudolph Gudewill for his wife, it later became home to Jeter’s grandfather, William Connors, who was adopted by John and Julia Tiedemann in 1952. Jeter acquired the estate in the early 2000s from the Tiedemann family trust.

Transformation Under Jeter’s Ownership
When Jeter took over, the estate was in disrepair and had been divided into apartments. He transformed it into a luxurious three-parcel estate that includes a main house, a guest house, a pool house, and a boat house. The grounds feature an infinity pool, meticulously maintained gardens, a lagoon, and are enclosed by 6-foot-high stone walls. The property spans roughly 4 acres and includes 700 feet of lakefront.

Architectural Features
The stone home at 14 Lake Shore Road, Warwick, N.Y., is characterized by its two turrets, giving it the "castle" nickname. Inside, there are two conference rooms, six bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and five kitchens (four indoor and one outdoor with a wood-burning fireplace). The estate is listed by Wright Bros. Real Estate Inc., with annual property taxes around $75,000.

Jeter’s Ownership and History
Jeter, a Hall of Fame inductee who spent his entire MLB career with the Yankees, retired in 2014. He was a part-owner and CEO of the Miami Marlins from 2017 to 2022. He initially listed the Greenwood Lake home for $14.75 million in early 2018, reducing the price to $12.75 million in 2021.

Family and Local Connections
Born in Pequannock, N.J., Jeter grew up in Kalamazoo, Mich., but spent some of his early life in North Arlington. Locals mention that while Jeter's parents often visited the Greenwood Lake property, Jeter himself was rarely seen in the area.
