Compasspoint Development's Joe Taylor reports a surge in demand for MotorCave Suites, a new development in Barrington designed for car enthusiasts to store, work on, and display their vehicles. This unique concept has attracted significant interest even before its official sales launch.
Early Success and Sales Launch
In just 10 days of a quiet pre-launch, 25 of the 37 units at MotorCave Suites have secured commitments from buyers. The official sales launch is set for June 17, with Kinzie Real Estate Group managing the sales. Some buyers are purchasing multiple units, reflecting the strong market interest.
Tailored for Car Enthusiasts
Prices for these garage condos range from $410,000 to approximately $1.1 million, with the largest units capable of accommodating up to 16 cars, or more with car lifts. "We’re catering to a very specific clientele, the car enthusiast who’s got a collection or wants to," said Taylor.
Influence of Affluent Buyers
Affluent individuals needing space for their car collections drive this high demand. John Victor, whose similar development in Mundelein sold out earlier this year, noted the growing market for such specialized real estate. MotorCave Suites is the fourth project of its kind in the Chicago area, joining similar developments in Joliet, Naperville, and Mundelein.
Unique Design and Amenities
Designed by OKW Architects, MotorCave’s two-story condos feature a garage on the first floor and a mezzanine for dining or recreation. The larger multi-use project will also include commercial space and 125 apartments. The rapid sales have accelerated construction plans, with all four MotorCave structures slated to start building this year.
Community and Social Aspects
MotorCave units range from 1,500 to 3,800 square feet and include bathrooms, with access to a clubhouse, outdoor grilling station, and amenities from the adjacent Mylo apartment complex, such as a pool, fitness center, and pickleball courts. These developments foster communities of like-minded car enthusiasts who gather for events and social activities.
Future Growth Potential
With the Chicago market showing promising growth, more developments like MotorCave Suites are likely to emerge, catering to the needs of car collectors and enthusiasts.
