Bristol Myers Squibb has selected Generation Park in northeast Houston for a new advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing campus, bringing a major life sciences investment to one of the region's largest master-planned developments. The approximately 600,000-square-foot facility represents an estimated $2.3 billion investment and is expected to create nearly 500 skilled jobs once operational. The construction phase is also expected to generate about 2,000 construction and related jobs between 2027 and 2030. The Houston project is part of BMS' broader $40 billion, five-year commitment to U.S. research, technology and domestic manufacturing.

The initial 600,000-square-foot facility is designed to grow beyond its opening configuration. BMS says the campus will incorporate advanced digital integration and automation, allowing manufacturing capabilities to be brought online as demand evolves. That flexibility is particularly important for a pharmaceutical manufacturer, where production requirements can change as medicines move from development into commercialization. The company expects the Houston campus to expand in both scale and capability over the long term.

What Generation Park Brings to The Project

Generation Park provides BMS with a large-scale development environment in northeast Houston. The master-planned development spans approximately 4,200 to 4,300 acres and is being developed by McCord Development. The project has increasingly become a destination for life sciences and advanced manufacturing users. More than $1 billion in office, multifamily, retail, civic, hospitality and industrial projects had already been constructed in Generation Park, according to McCord. The BMS investment follows another major pharmaceutical commitment in Generation Park. Eli Lilly purchased 236 acres for a planned $6.5 billion active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing campus, further strengthening the development's position within Houston's growing life sciences sector.

The BMS announcement adds another major pharmaceutical manufacturing project to Houston's expanding life sciences pipeline. For the commercial real estate market, the investment could have an impact beyond the manufacturing campus itself. What Comes Next for The Campus

The company expects the campus to continue expanding beyond its initial footprint as its needs change. Texas is also supporting the project. Gov. Greg Abbott said BMS will receive a $4.89 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant, while the project also qualifies for additional benefits under the state's Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation program. For Generation Park, the project adds another major corporate anchor. For Houston, it strengthens the city's position as a destination for large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing and life sciences investment.
