Bret Baier's $31.9M Listing As Move from DC to Palm Beach Gears Up

The Baier Family's Florida Dream

For the Baier family, which includes their two teenage sons, the allure of Florida became irresistible. Their recent $37 million investment in a Florida retreat follows a series of pandemic-induced visits that ultimately led them to make the move permanent. According to Bret Baier, "I fell in love with the place," as reported by the Wall Street Journal. While they embrace the Floridian lifestyle, Bret's commitment to his role as Chief Political Anchor of Fox News and anchor/executive editor of "Special Report" necessitates weekly commutes to Washington for live shows. As a result, they are now in search of a more modest residence in the DC area.

The Transformation of Foxhall Property

Originally purchased for $5.4 million in 2018, the Baier family embarked on a transformative project. They demolished the existing structure with low ceilings and replaced it with a grandiose 16,250-square-foot mansion featuring five lavish bedrooms. This ambitious endeavor, from land acquisition to mansion construction, incurred a total cost of around $30 million. The property, listed by Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, offers a range of high-end amenities, ensuring privacy and security with its gated and walled premises. To cater to Bret Baier's golfing passion, the mansion boasts a putting green with sand traps, a game room with a golf simulator, and a bar in the main parlor.

Melding Modern and Classical Finishes

In their collaboration with designer Thomas Pheasant, the Baiers seamlessly blended modern and classical finishes throughout the mansion. Visitors are greeted by an impressive Art Deco-style marble floor in the double-height entry, complete with 12-foot black lacquered doors. The primary suite stands out with a limestone terrace, dual bathrooms, and two dressing rooms. The grandeur extends to the dining room, where a lavish wood-and-brass table, designed by Pheasant, can accommodate 14 guests, a testament to the couple's love for entertaining.

In a surprising twist, Bret Baier's decision to list his newly built mansion signals a significant change in his family's lifestyle, transitioning from the heart of Washington, DC to the sunny oasis of Palm Beach, Florida. With their opulent DC property now on the market, the Baier family is poised to make waves in the real estate world, potentially setting a record for the nation's capital. Their story serves as a testament to the allure of Florida living and the ever-evolving real estate landscape in the United States.
