In a landmark decision, the City of Boston has granted approval for the ambitious $2 billion redevelopment plan orchestrated by WinnCompanies and the Boston Housing Authority (BHA). The transformative project will unfold in two phases, commencing in 2024, with a vision to create 3,300 mixed-income apartments on the 30-acre Mary Ellen McCormack site. This initiative includes the replacement of all 1,016 public housing units, ensuring current residents a guaranteed right to return.

Boston Planning & Development Agency's Nod for Phase One

The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) has given the green light to the Phase One Development Plan, marking a significant milestone. This nod follows an exhaustive two-and-a-half-year design review by the City of Boston, paving the way for the final permitting of the massive redevelopment. The Phase One plan, valued at $776 million, outlines the creation of 1,310 apartments in eight new residential buildings over an eight-year period. This includes the replacement of 529 outdated apartments for BHA households and the addition of 781 new homes catering to middle-income and market-rate renters.

Beyond housing, WinnCompanies will invest $110 million in public infrastructure improvements.
