Global oncology company BeiGene Ltd. has unveiled its new flagship facility in Hopewell, New Jersey. Situated at the Princeton West Innovation Campus, this expansive 400,000-square-foot building represents a significant milestone in the company's expansion strategy. The site offers potential growth up to 1 million square feet, underscoring BeiGene's commitment to enhancing its integrated manufacturing and R&D operations within the U.S.

Investment and Job Creation

The Hopewell facility is the culmination of an $800 million investment, reflecting a three-year initiative aimed at strengthening BeiGene's presence in the U.S. pharmaceutical landscape. The company plans to create hundreds of new jobs at this location by the end of 2025, signaling a substantial boost to the local economy and job market.

Construction and Sustainability

BeiGene acquired the Hopewell property from Lincoln Equities Group in November 2021, with construction commencing in April 2022. The project involved key partnerships with DPR Construction as the construction manager and IPS-Integrated Project Services for architectural and engineering expertise. The facility, located at 311 Pennington Rocky Hill Road, is equipped for biologics manufacturing and clinical research and development. The 42-acre site incorporates sustainable features such as a heating and cooling system utilizing recycled wastewater and is also prepared for solar power integration.

Princeton West Innovation Campus

The BeiGene building is part of the larger Princeton West Innovation Campus, a 433-acre complex developed by Lincoln Equities and H.I.G. in 2020. This master-planned development includes 1.2 million square feet of space designated for office, R&D, and data center use, with ample room for future expansions.

New Jersey's Life Science Sector

New Jersey is recognized as a leading hub for life sciences in the United States, drawing major companies to the region. With over 22 million square feet of lab space currently available, the state is poised for a 27 percent increase in lab space by 2026, according to a report from Choose New Jersey.

One notable development is the HELIX Health + Life Science Exchange, a $731 million project led by SJP Properties and New Brunswick Development Corp. This initiative will feature nearly 1.2 million square feet across two buildings, hosting the New Jersey Innovation HUB and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. This project exemplifies the dynamic growth and investment within New Jersey's life science sector.
