  • Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment revealed plans for a $150 million renovation of Barclays Center in Prospect Heights.
  • The upgrades include new luxury lounges, a redesigned atrium, and major technology improvements throughout the arena.
  • Construction is expected to finish before the start of the 2026-27 Brooklyn Nets season.

What the Renovation Project Includes

Barclays Center is preparing for another major upgrade as Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment moves forward with the third phase of renovations at the arena in Prospect Heights. The $150 million project will modernize key sections of the venue, including the main concourse, premium hospitality areas, and broadcast infrastructure. The renovation is designed by Populous, the architecture firm known for large-scale sports and entertainment venues worldwide.

One of the biggest changes is coming to the main atrium, where renderings show a new 180-degree LED wall alongside contemporary art installations from artist Sarah Sze.

Renderings also preview redesigned guest service areas, upgraded concourses, and a modernized box office experience inside the arena.

What the New Premium Spaces Mean for Barclays Center

The renovation places a heavy focus on premium hospitality offerings, continuing a broader trend across major sports and entertainment venues.

Renderings reveal a new Amex Lounge above the main atrium for American Express Platinum cardholders. The club space will accommodate more than 200 guests and include lounge seating, a private cocktail bar, and skyline-facing views overlooking Brooklyn.

The project will also create a new 360-member Event Level Club spanning more than 9,000 square feet. Renderings show expanded food and beverage concepts, interactive show kitchens, VIP access points, and upgraded hospitality spaces throughout the arena.

New dedicated entrances along Flatbush Avenue will also be added for premium guests and suite holders.

What the Technology Upgrades Could Change

Barclays Center is also replacing much of the arena’s original broadcast and production equipment that has been in place since the building opened in 2012. The upgrades include new broadcast cameras, instant replay systems, graphics packages, and game presentation technology aimed at improving both the in-person and television viewing experience. Temporary scaffolding and a satellite box office will operate during construction as work moves forward in phases.

What This Means for Brooklyn’s Entertainment Market

The renovation reflects the growing competition among major sports and entertainment venues to attract premium customers, concerts, sponsorships, and corporate events.

Modern arena operators are increasingly investing in luxury hospitality experiences because those spaces generate significantly higher revenue than standard seating. Premium clubs, lounges, and VIP entrances have become a major focus for stadium and arena redevelopment projects across the country.

For Brooklyn, the investment also reinforces Barclays Center’s role as one of New York City’s top entertainment destinations. The arena continues drawing large crowds for NBA games, concerts, and major live events while anchoring development activity around Atlantic Avenue and Flatbush Avenue.

With the project expected to wrap before the next Brooklyn Nets season, Barclays Center is positioning itself to stay competitive in New York’s entertainment market for years ahead.
