Baptist Health South Florida has filed for a $45 million interior alteration at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Kendall, where it's expanding Baptist Hospital Miami, the health system's original and largest campus. The permit, filed under job number 2026060461, covers 111,500 square feet of work at the flagship facility.

The expansion

Baptist Hospital Miami anchors a system that runs 12 hospitals and employs more than 26,000 people across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties. The Kendall campus is also home to the Miami Cancer Institute, giving this latest buildout a direct tie to one of the system's highest-growth service lines.

The track record on this campus

This isn't the campus's first major buildout. Baptist Health delivered the five-story, 240,000-square-foot Hope Tower and a central energy plant on the Kendall site in 2020, built specifically to support the Cancer Institute's inpatient bone marrow and immunotherapy programs and to future-proof the campus for further growth. The new $45 million permit continues that same strategy: expanding in place on an already dense campus rather than building new satellite facilities elsewhere.
