Renowned for their Aston Martin-branded condominium project in downtown Miami, the Coto family is presenting a plan for a 464-unit residential tower in Brickell.

The proposed project: The 55-story tower, named Calle 8, would be built on a nearly 1-acre lot at the southeast corner of Southwest Eighth Street and Southwest Second Avenue. G&G Business Developments, led by Germán Coto, has filed a preliminary application with Miami-Dade County.

How the project came to be: The site envelops four lots. A G&G Business affiliate acquired two lots at 190 Southwest Eighth Street for $9.3 million in 2014. The other two lots constituting the development site, located at 161 and 195 Southwest Ninth Street, were transferred to G&G’s affiliate for a nominal sum of $100.

The next step: The application does not specify whether the units will be condos or apartments. G&G is in the process of arranging a pre-application meeting with county administrators.

Who is the Coto Family: The Coto Family is an Argentine family that is known for their business ventures in a variety of industries, including real estate, development, and retail. The Coto family is led by Germán Coto, who is the CEO of G&G Business Developments. G&G Business is a real estate development company that has been involved in a number of high-profile projects in South Florida.
