$88M Brighton Senior Housing by 2Life Communities Reaches Completion

A new milestone was reached in Boston's housing landscape as 2Life Communities, in collaboration with the City of Boston and the Boston Housing Authority, marked the completion of the J.J. Carroll House project.

Redevelopment Overview

Located at 130 Chestnut Hill Ave in Brighton, MA, the project transformed 64 public housing units into 142 modern, energy-efficient apartments tailored for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Affordable Housing Initiatives

The redevelopment scheme prioritized affordability, comprising 114 deeply affordable units supported by Section 8 vouchers and an additional 27 affordable units facilitated through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

Governmental Support and Commitment

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren expressed dedication to securing federal funding to foster the expansion of housing initiatives akin to the J.J. Carroll House. She emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts among federal, state, and local authorities alongside private investments to address the housing needs within Massachusetts.

With an $88.3 million budget, the project received support from various entities, including the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities and MassHousing. This financial backing underscores a collective endeavor aimed at enhancing accessibility to public housing.
