Janet Liff has spent her career at the nexus of transportation and real estate. As the principal of J Liff Co., a commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in New York City’s Midtown South market, she’s seen firsthand the immediate economic benefits of public space, street and transit improvements. Most recently, she launched The Neighborhood Empowerment Project at Open Plans, an initiative that addresses the lack of public space management in NYC. She holds a Masters of Public Administration from NYU/Wagner and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia. She’s also Vice-Chair of the Board of Transportation Alternatives, a member of their Open Space Coalition, and serves on the Traffic and Transportation Committee of Community Board 2 in Manhattan. Her love for exploring the world by bike began a long, long time ago as a kid on American Youth Hostel trips, home and abroad
