Unconventional AI, a startup building a new computing architecture aimed at dramatically improving AI compute efficiency, is acquiring Israeli AI inference chipmaker NeuReality in a deal with undisclosed terms. The acquisition adds an experienced team of silicon and systems engineers to Unconventional, which is pursuing a 1,000-fold improvement in AI compute efficiency. Led by CEO Naveen Rao, the company emerged from stealth in December 2025 with a $475 million seed round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed. The deal is expected to deliver a return above the roughly $105 million invested in NeuReality and includes cash and shares, giving its backers exposure to Unconventional's future growth.
