Donald Bren is an American billionaire businessman and the chairman and owner of the Irvine Company, a privately held real estate investment company. He founded the Bren Company in 1958 and co-founded the Mission Viejo Company in 1963. Bren joined a group of investors to purchase the Irvine Company in 1977 and became its sole owner by 1996. He has been recognized for his philanthropic contributions, particularly in education, conservation, and research.
