  • Trump International Golf Club, at 3505 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL 33406, could become a permanent U.S. Presidential Golf Course for current and future presidents and visiting foreign heads of state.
  • The Trump Organization has offered to fund new presidential lodging and provide access to the club's facilities at no cost to the federal government, with planning coordinated with federal security agencies.
  • Palm Beach County owns the underlying land and leases it to the golf club. County staff have been directed to explore the proposal, but no final agreement has been approved.

What Trump Organization Is Proposing

The Trump Organization is proposing to turn its West Palm Beach golf club into a permanent presidential retreat modeled in part on Camp David. A Sept. 3 letter from Trump attorney Harvey Oyer III proposed designating the property as a U.S. Presidential Golf Course available to past, current and future presidents and visiting foreign heads of state. The proposal would add presidential lodging to the existing golf property. The Trump Organization would cover construction costs, while the project would be coordinated with the General Services Administration and U.S. Secret Service.

What The Property Already Offers

Trump International Golf Club is a private 27-hole golf club with championship golf, dining and other country-club amenities. The property is located at 3505 Summit Boulevard, close to Palm Beach International Airport and the broader West Palm Beach market. The ownership structure is notable for real estate investors. The Trump Organization controls the golf club, while Palm Beach County owns the underlying land and leases it to the club. That means any long-term presidential retreat would require the county to address the existing land and lease arrangements.

What Palm Beach County Is Reviewing

County staff have been directed to begin discussions about the proposal. County Administrator Joe Abruzzo called it a “remarkable and historic opportunity,” while Commissioner Maria Sachs said she believes the concept could have a positive economic impact on the region. Other commissioners have raised questions about taxpayer costs, lease terms, land use and airport operations. Those issues will need to be addressed before the county can take formal action.

What The Retreat Could Mean For West Palm Beach

The proposal could introduce a new presidential hospitality and security use to an established golf property without requiring a conventional ground-up commercial redevelopment of the site. For local landlords and investors, the bigger real estate issue is the potential long-term impact of creating a high-profile presidential destination near West Palm Beach's existing concentration of luxury residential, hospitality, golf and aviation assets. The proposal remains preliminary, with no confirmed construction cost, building size or construction timeline disclosed.
