What Ocean Aviation Is Building
Ocean Aviation broke ground on October 7, 2026, on a new private aviation campus at Miami Executive Airport. The project will transform approximately 40 acres of previously undeveloped airport land into a facility serving private aircraft owners, corporate flight departments and general aviation operators. Backed by Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, Ocean Aviation secured a 40-year ground lease at the airport in 2024. The new campus represents a major infrastructure investment in South Miami-Dade's aviation sector.
What The $67M Campus Will Include
The planned development will accommodate up to 400,000 square feet of communal and private aircraft hangar space, alongside a premium FBO terminal and an on-site fuel farm. The project also includes a 32,000-square-foot common-use taxi lane and ramp designed to serve U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations. The infrastructure is intended to support aircraft movements and international general aviation activity. The development will be delivered through a design-build model led by Lemartec, with Schenkel Shultz serving as the design partner.
What The Investment Means For South Florida
Miami-Dade County expects the project to create approximately 2,900 construction jobs and 250 permanent positions. The investment adds private aviation infrastructure to a region with substantial demand from corporate travelers, aircraft owners and charter operators. Ocean Aviation also expanded its South Florida presence in September 2026 by acquiring National Jets at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The new Miami campus and existing Fort Lauderdale operation give the company a presence at two major airports in the region.
What Happens To The Wings Over Miami Air Museum
The campus will provide a new home for the Wings Over Miami Air Museum, which preserves historic aircraft and aviation artifacts and supports aviation education. The relocation adds a public-facing cultural component to a project primarily focused on private aviation operations. The county's development agreement also includes a 1,200-square-foot classroom for the Civil Air Patrol as a community benefit.
What Comes Next For Ocean Aviation
Construction will advance under the county's long-term ground lease, with the campus designed to support hangar storage, aircraft services and expanded aviation operations. For real estate and infrastructure investors, the project highlights the investment potential of specialized airport property, where long-term leases, aviation facilities and supporting infrastructure can create a distinct commercial asset class.
