House Kiki Brings 175-Seat Mercante Ristorante To Miami River

• Nicola Siervo and House Kiki, led by Roman Jones, are developing Mercante Ristorante & Piano Bar, a new 175-seat waterfront restaurant at 404 NW North River Drive.

What Mercante Is Bringing to the Miami River

Mercante Ristorante & Piano Bar is set to bring an Italian Riviera-inspired dining concept to the Miami River, combining upscale coastal Italian food with the energy of a piano bar and supper club. The restaurant is being created by hospitality veteran Nicola Siervo in partnership with House Kiki's Roman Jones, whose Miami River portfolio already includes Kiki on the River and Habibi. House Kiki has also announced additional concepts along the river as part of a broader hospitality expansion.

What the 175-Seat Restaurant Will Include

Mercante will offer freshly prepared pastas, seafood, crudo, house-made breads, gelato and Italian street food, paired with an all-Italian wine list and signature cocktails. The restaurant is planned for approximately 175 seats, with a waterfront terrazza overlooking the river. A 150-foot dock is expected to provide boat access, adding another layer to the restaurant's waterfront positioning.

Siervo described the concept as more than a dining destination, saying, “Mercante will deliver glamour but mostly it is a celebration of life spent with loved ones at the table and a journey through coastal Italy.”

What the Design Will Look Like

Nikolai Design is designing the interior, with the concept centered around turquoise, citrus and green tones intended to evoke the Mediterranean. The space will feature a Venetian-inspired dining room, polished brass and marble accents, custom furnishings and a waterfront outdoor area. Live piano performances, bands, karaoke and curated music will shift the atmosphere from daytime dining into a more energetic evening format. The location itself has a long history as a Miami River seafood destination. Public property records identify 404 NW North River Drive as a roughly 7,725-square-foot, 1925-built restaurant property, while the site has historically housed Casablanca Seafood.

What House Kiki Is Building Along the River

Mercante is part of a larger expansion by House Kiki, which has been assembling a collection of hospitality concepts along the Miami River. The group's announced pipeline includes Pirata, a sports bar planned for 2026, along with additional concepts including Capella dell'Amore, Maminette, El Morro, Trinity and Villa Romana. That growing concentration of restaurants and entertainment venues is adding another layer to the Miami River's transformation from a primarily working waterfront into a broader dining, nightlife and hospitality destination.

What Mercante Means for Miami River Retail

For commercial real estate owners and investors, Mercante reflects continued demand for waterfront restaurant space and experiential hospitality in Miami. The Miami River already has an established restaurant cluster, including Garcia's Seafood Grille and Fish Market and other waterfront operators. The addition of a higher-end Italian concept expands the mix beyond traditional seafood and casual riverfront dining. Mercante is targeting a late 2026 opening, with lunch and dinner seven days a week plus weekend brunch.
